The professional who works in the scope of Educational Guidance (EG) creates possibilities for students of a certain educational institution to develop well during the teaching and learning process. These are professionals who work in pedagogical areas, with specific additional training in the field of EG. In addition, this profession also promotes, through planned activities, the approximation of these students with society in general. As a way of better understanding the performance of this professional, this research aimed to describe the relationship between the school institution and the community, and also to analyze the role of the educational guidance professional in mediating this relationship. Through a bibliographical analysis of works available on Google Scholar, it was possible to identify that this professional can help students in promoting a realistic reading of society, overcoming learning difficulties and the lack of interest of other educators, bringing the family closer to the school , get to know your target audience better, direct your students according to their skills and other activities. Thus, it is concluded that EG professionals are important for the good development of institutional goals and also for ensuring a good relationship between the school, family and the external community.
