This work was developed in the line of Society research, Environment and Sustainable Regional Development. Aimed to verify the perception of society and the sustainability of actions promoted by companies in the sugar and ethanol segment of Mato Grosso do Sul. Therefore, a descriptive exploratory survey was conducted by combining quantitative and qualitative information collected through forms applied to a group of society representatives in cities where sucroenergéticas companies are located, using the methodology 'Snowball Sampling'. Data were processed and analyzed using the software Sphinx Lexica 5.0 and SPSS 22. The results demonstrate that the society has little insight into the sustainability management actions promoted by the companies of the region, within the socioeconomic dimensions (average of 3.99 on the scale 1 to 7) and environmental (average 3.77 on a scale of 1 to 7). It is inferred that if sucroenergéticas companies develop sustainability actions, these are hardly perceived by society.
