Corn crop is very important for Brazilian agriculture because of its great diversity of use, both in animal feed and in the high-tech industry. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the agronomic characteristics and nutrient content in corn crop. grown in different texture soils. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, in the soil department of the Federal Rural University of Amazonia, Belém campus, with the objective of evaluating the effects of nitrogen doses (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 kg ha-1) on Soils of different textures (clay and sandy). Plant height, stem diameter, leaf dry mass and nutrient content (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) in leaf tissue in corn (Zea mays L) were evaluated. A completely randomized experimental design was used in a 5x2 factorial scheme distributed in five replications. The soil was placed in plastic pots with a capacity of 5 dcm3 where with both textures (sandy and clayey). A significant effect (P ≤ 0.01) occurred for all variables analyzed. Nitrogen rates had a positive influence on the height, diameter and dry mass of corn leaves, with larger increments in clayey soil. The nutrient content of corn crop in the medium textured soil decreased as N rates increased, except for Mg content. The nutrient content for clayey soil showed better response to N application.
