Use of music by health professionals in externalizing gender violence in the puerperium

The use of music by health professionals in the care process can provide a welcoming and favorable environment to give a voice to the puerperal woman about the situations of violence in which they faced. Music is a light technology, directly linked to relationships, permeating the processes of welcoming, bonding and comprehensive care as managers of health actions and aiming to create technologies of relationships as humanized care devices, being an intimately important method in verbal expression or not of mothers and closer relationship between the mother and her child. The objective of this research is to understand the contribution of the use of music by health professionals in the manifestation of gender violence during the postpartum period. Descriptive and exploratory research with qualitative approach. Data were collected with four mothers in the Unit Kangaroo of the Public Maternity Hospital in Palmas-TO, through music therapy group and participant observation. Later data were analyzed by content analysis generating two categories: 'Marked body, guarded uterus' e 'My music and my life'. We conclude that the use of music is a significant technology for the externalization of gender violence, allowing the assistance of the subjective aspects of postpartum women. Contributed to effective aid to self-discovery process, of the build herself as mother, strengthening the autonomy, self-esteem and decision-making power of women.
