Kidney injuries are responsible for a decrease in the patient's levels of renal functioning, so the prevention of kidney disease is an important criterion to be promoted by the nurse. Thus, the objective of this work is to determine the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of chronic kidney disease in primary care. The methodology applied in this work is the integrative literature review in which the consultation platforms used: Google Scholar, SciELO, LILACS and Institutional Repositories. For this, the following research descriptors were used: Nurse's performance; kidney diseases; Health education. The application of some criteria was limited: temporality - articles published in 2017-2022; methodological – literary, integrative, systematic reviews and field research. Thus, the analyzed studies draw attention to the lack of specific actions aimed at the early detection of chronic kidney disease in the nursing scenario, so that it emphasizes patient care in an integrated way, taking into account the relevance of multidisciplinary teams, and aims to minimize ignorance of the disease.
