The importance of awareness about breastfeeding

Abstract

As protagonists in the process of promoting exclusive breastfeeding, nurses are professionals who link the theory and practice of health and family services in a real-world context, reducing anxiety and doubts about the benefits and importance of breastfeeding. maternal. In order to characterize the main difficulties and potential of nursing during breastfeeding, an integrative literature review was carried out, with a qualitative approach, based on scientific articles published in Brazilian journals indexed in the SCIELO, LILACS and Academic journals databases, published between the years 2016-2022. The challenges identified were related to misinformation about the importance of breastfeeding during pregnancy; cultural inferences about the difficulty of adhering to exclusive breastfeeding; and the work dynamics of the care team. As professionals who have the most contact with women in the pregnancy-puerperal period, their bond becomes one of the main potentials for effective breastfeeding, reinforced mainly by effective communication in health education.
