Bacterial resistance to antimicrobials is one of the main health problems found in hospitals and outside them, aggravating the patient's clinical condition. Nursing is essential to identify and assist the patient who presents this type of resistance. To present the role of nursing in the management of antimicrobial resistance. This is an integrative literature review that presented the results of ten articles selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, considering the qualitative and analytical research methods. The analysed articles present bacterial resistance as a serious obstacle to health promotion, because super bacteria do not allow antimicrobials to exercise their function in the body. Nursing is the profession that is most in contact with patients, and it is necessary to have a preparation to identify the main symptoms and an effective intervention to occur. Thus, for the patient to have less damage in the clinical picture, it is important that the nurse identifies the first signs of antimicrobial resistance, identifies the superbug acting in the body and effectively assists in the treatment.
