From August 2019 to January 2020, oil was detected throughout the northeast and part of the southeast coast of Brazil, reaching more than 1,000 locations brought by sea currents. To date, questions about: origin of oil, what is the total volume of material in the ocean, how this leak occurred, for example, are still unanswered, as investigations to date have not yielded conclusions. This work proposed to carry out an analysis of the environmental valuation of the damages caused by the oil spill on the coast of Pernambuco using two methods: DEPRN and CETESB, in order to measure the value of the affected ecosystems. For the determination of the recovery costs of the degraded area, the data provided by SEMAS - Secretary for the Environment and Sustainability (2019), and the data released by the official daily of the state of Pernambuco on November 5, 2019, which reported on the acquisition and distribution of PPE's and tools. Based on the recovery value determined, it was possible to calculate the amount of environmental damage for compensation through the suggested methods: with the DEPRN method, R $ 75,792,337.20 and with the CETESB method, approximately R $ 51,563,000, 00. With this work it was possible to conclude that more data related to this great impact are necessary so that it is possible to estimate, with more precision, the extent of the damage caused to the environment and thus carry out the valuation and stipulate an indemnity to be paid by those responsible for such a crime.
