In December 2019, in Wuhan, China, cases of pneumonia of unknown cause were reported with a higher frequency than normal. Local laboratories discovered that it was an infection caused by a new strain of virus, from the Coronaviridae family, better known as the coronavirus, receiving the name Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2). The present work aims to describe the clinical and epidemiological profile of patients who presented positive serology of COVID-19 treated in a laboratory unit in Maceió/AL and to evaluate the data obtained from the literature to help in the knowledge and fight against the disease, observing variables such as age group, gender, pre-existing comorbidities and symptoms presented. Data were obtained by consulting the records belonging to the electronic file of the laboratory unit in the city of Maceió-AL, in the period between April 2020 and August 2020. Of the patients who underwent serology for COVID-19 in the period evaluated, 41.9 % of the 31-50 age group were male and 22.1% were female in the same age group, with the highest prevalence being male. With the detailed analysis of the data, it was possible to verify a relationship between age and the prevalence of viral infection in this same age group, and it was concluded that they are directly proportional to age and possible pre-existing comorbidities.
