The importance of teaching biology in schools to promote health

Abstract

Biology is the study of life, the education area that addresses the health issue in its content, which is why its importance for health promotion is emphasized, together with the textbook, a high-quality pedagogical resource. relevance to the learning process. This study aimed to highlight the importance of teaching biology in schools, with the aim of promoting health, analyzing the approach to the theme of health in textbooks, whether it is satisfactory and contributes to health promotion. The analysis was carried out through the review of bibliographic data and also through a questionnaire on the approach to health in textbooks, proposed to teachers in the area of education. Literary data show that the approach to health in schools has gaps in its content. The result of the questionnaire showed that the health theme has an imprecise and inconclusive approach. Finally, this analysis concludes that the approach to health in textbooks is not satisfactory and still needs to be better implemented in education.

Possui como primeira graduação em Biotecnologia pelo Centro Universitário Estadual da Zona Oeste (2015), e como segunda graduação em Ciências Biológicas (Licenciatura) pela Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul (2021), e título de Mestre em Ciências Biológicas - Zoologia pelo Programa de Pós-graduação do Museu Nacional - UFRJ (2019). Atualmente é Doutoranda em Ciências Biológicas - Zoologia pelo Programa de Pós-graduação do Museu Nacional - UFRJ. Tem experiência na área de Zoologia e Ecologia, com ênfase em Taxonomia de Grupos recentes em entomologia, especificamente em insetos aquáticos e interesse em educação ambiental e sustentabilidade.
