In Brazil, the national solid waste policy encourages the development of solid waste management models applicable to each social nucleus. The main objective of this investigation is to answer the following research problem: what is the appropriate recyclable waste management model for the Manoel Francisco de Souza Filho Forum in Petrolina/PE? This research is exploratory with a mixed approach. Gravimetry techniques, in-depth interviews and questionnaires were applied. In this study, it was shown that a model for managing recyclables must involve several actors in an integrated manner. Thus, elements such as disposal, segregation, treatment and final destination are essential for structuring a model for managing recyclable waste applicable to the sustainability plan of the TJPE institution.
