Ergonomics and safety at work: importance, benefits and impacts on worker productivity and performance: case study in a credit cooperative

Ergonomics offers benefits that are directly linked to the worker's quality of life, increased profits, since satisfied and healthy employees, associated with an adequate work environment and favorable conditions, provide positive growth for any company. This is a case study in a Rural Credit Cooperative, characterized as applied research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, with regard to objectives it is characterized as exploratory and by procedures, carried out as a case study. Data were collected through: questionnaire applied to employees, survey of environmental working conditions and analysis of activities under direct observation. In the presentation of the data, it was possible to observe, through the employee satisfaction survey and the analysis of the department's environment, that the employees are adapting to the work station and the existing environment conditions are adequate according to the theory studied on Ergonomics. The study showed the need for improvement in some aspects, such as the lighting on the computers, the space at the tables, the temperature of some workstations, the implementation of labor gymnastics and awareness of people in the use of equipment for the prevention of diseases. It concludes with the importance of implementing an ergonomic program in the organization, seeking the well-being of employees, in order to avoid risks and occupational diseases, as well as to develop a healthy work environment, favoring quality of life, productivity and performance. of the institution.
