Fishing is a socioeconomic activity that in Brazil achieve approximately 5 billion of reais per year and employs 3.5 million. However, this activity and its products have potential for generating environmental impacts of both extensiveness and the volume of waste generated, which can represent over 70% of the weight of the captured fish. Based on these characteristics, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between fishery residues and sustainability in the Fisher Colony Z3 and to present alternatives for the transformation of fish waste into products with economic value. To make this proposal feasible, a qualitative and descriptive research was carried out with the bibliographic research techniques, informal interviews, formal interviews, visits to the locality and direct observation. As a result, the analysis of the relationship between fishing activity and sustainability in the Fisher ColonyZ3 allowed us to conclude that this activity is important for the promotion of jobs, income and local culture. However, contributes to the generation of negative impacts on development mainly due to the inadequate allocation of fishing waste over the decades. Thus, five alternatives for the transformation of fishery residues into other products were: source of protein by hydrolysis and fish flour, fish silage, fish composting, chitin and biofuels, all with the potential to generate complementary income to the population that survives from fishing activity.
