This article is aimed at presenting a comparative study between the performance evaluation system that is currently adopted at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) and the 360 degree feedback methodology, investigating whether the modern evaluation, as a management tool, would be more adequate than the system current performance evaluation in meeting the demands of UTFPR managers and servers, considering the peculiarities of the categories involved in the process and their attributions within the institution. Such analysis took place through a bibliographic survey, based on exploratory research, in order to conceptualize and characterize performance evaluations in a general context and, in particular, confronting 360 degree feedback and the performance evaluation program of the mentioned institution, verifying whether the former, as a management tool, would be more appropriate than the current performance evaluation system in meeting the demands of both its managers and employees. Finally, it can be seen that the 360-degree feedback model works in a circular fashion, that is, everyone involved with the person being evaluated gives their point of view in relation to the professional development of that subject, while the methodology used by UTFPR, although most of those involved participate in the evaluation process, they are still outside this circle.
