The objective of this study was to analyze the competitiveness of Brazilian exports in world trade of cotton, from 2000 to 2017, in comparison to the greatest producer and the second greatest world exporter, India. The data were collected from UDSA (United States Department of Agriculture) site, UN COMTRADE (United Nations Comtrade), FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and WTO (World Trade Organization). The methodology used was based on the Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage Index (RSCA), Concentration Ratio (CR), and on the Regional Orientation Index (RO). The results revealed that both Brazil and India presented comparative advantages for cotton from 2004. In relation to CR, Brazil presented concentration and India deconcentration of exports. The RO indicated orientation of cotton exports from Brazil to Indonesia, Vietnam and Turkey. Yet, the RO of India presented orientation of cotton exports to Bangladesh, Vietnam and Pakistan.
