The development of interactions based on trust and reciprocity is still obscure when related to the organizational field, mainly regarding the formation and development of community organizations. So, this paper aims to understand the development of social capital structures in community based organizations. Two Brazilian non-profit organizations were analyzed, the Women's League located in Porto Velho-RO, and the Movement for Peace in the Periphery (MP3) located in Teresina-PI. In both organizations a semi-structured interviews was applied with 15 questions totalizing 11 interviews, with eight in the Women's League and three in the MP3. The results indicate that the development of social capital in the Women's League is more influenced by family organizations but with a strong presence of leadership, while in MP3 the social capital is developed through the formation of intellectual capital. In both organizations reciprocity was the main way there was a narrowing of the ties between members in which new beneficiaries tend to reciprocate with new actions to help new beneficiaries who are socially or economically vulnerable.
