This paper presents a systematic review of national articles from 2016 to September 2020, written in Portuguese, indexed in the Scientific Periodicals Electronic Library (SPELL) databases, which feature empirical research in the field of Social Management. Some theoretical studies that highlight important conceptual approaches in Social Management are presented in order to situate this field of study. From the theoretical discussions on Social Management the following questions emerge: which contexts and processes have been associated to it in its historical path of construction from empirical research in the area? This research aims to present the various possibilities of thinking about Social Management and how it has been constructed from studies in the area.
