Abstract

Breastfeeding is essential for the baby's development and needs to be encouraged by the nursing teams towards child development and also for the prevention of diseases in breastfeeding women, as the female body needs to exercise breastfeeding to promote the health of both. The nurse works in this scenario as a professional who provides assistance and awareness to the breastfeeding woman, pregnant woman and the baby, as knowledge about breastfeeding is essential. Discuss about breastfeeding and the different forms of intervention by nurses for maternal awareness. Integrative literature review with analysis of 8 articles found on SciELO, Birene, Lilacs and Academic Google platforms, the analyzed articles were published between the years 2016 to 2021. They were selected after applying the inclusion criteria and excluding 8 articles to be analyzed in this review article. Both demonstrate the issue of assistance and removal of doubts through the nurse, who should promote the knowledge of pregnant and lactating women about the care of the baby and breastfeeding, it was also demonstrated that family and cultural issues influence this issue. It was concluded that, through the most varied forms of intervention, nurses can reach pregnant and lactating women and promote awareness of the importance of breastfeeding.

Atualmente é enfermeira da Prefeitura Municipal de Redenção PA e docente da Faculdade Integrada Carajás em Redenção e da Faculdade de Ensino Superior da Amazônia Reunida ligada ao grupo Afya.
