Dental implant and the impact on the patient's quality of life

The dental implant consists of a surgical material that replaces the natural tooth through the implantation of a titanium material that is affixed to the mandible in order to replace the root of the natural tooth. prosthesis, understanding that the existence of a complete dental arch is necessary to provide oral health and esthetics to the patient. The objective is to analyze the importance of dental implants for the quality of life of patients who suffer the loss of natural teeth. The materials used were 10 articles searched on Google Scholar, Lilacs, SciELO and PubMed search platforms, published between 2015 and 2021, available to the public and the application methods are an integrative literature review, application of the analytical method and qualitative research. The authors studied concluded that the lack of one or more teeth was common and the negative consequences too, such as speech impairment, difficulty chewing, aesthetic and self-esteem impairment and other situations that affect the quality of life physical, psychological and social, through this situation, dental health policies were developed and implemented, as well as resources for the maintenance and improvement of oral health were developed, among these resources the possibility of implants to replace lost teeth. Thus, it was concluded that the replacement of natural teeth by implants provides patients with recovery of oral function, as well as esthetics, so that the quality of life of this patient is also positively changed.
