The present work presents a simplified method for discharge curve calibration, disregarding the flow correction by the waterline slope and the normal slope method. The application of this statistical model, based on linear regression analysis for key curve calibration in unstable fluviometric station, under backwater effect, was applied in the Tapajós River Sub-Basin at Itaituba River Post, included in the Amazon Hydrographic Region. Data from discharge measurements performed in Itaituba and fluviometric levels of the Santarém Post at the confluence of the Amazon/Tapajós rivers were obtained from the National Water Agency Database for the calibration and validation of this proposed model. The indices for evaluating the efficiency of adjustment of the calibrated equation found were the multiple correlation coefficient (R = 0.9454), Nesh-Sutcliffe coefficient (CNS = 0.8938) and the deviation coefficient (D = 4.86%). The developed equation of the model for calibration of the backwater key curve indicated very good fit according to the performance evaluation statistics presented. These results show the applicability of the model in fluviometric stations with unstable key curve.
