Environmental education projects carried out by the Municipality of Santarém (PA) from Law 9.795/1999

Environmental changes have always occurred; however, they got worse when man discovered that fire could transform and modify his surroundings, so that urgent changes in the habit of society are necessary. Therefore, awareness-raising actions have become indispensable for the construction of new sustainable values, attitudes and social skills. According to Federal Law No. 9,795 / 1999, the government is one of those responsible for promoting environmental education. The present work sought to list the actions and practices of environmental education carried out in the municipality of Santarém by the Municipal Secretariat of Education (Semed) and the Municipal Secretariat of Environment (Semma). The research had a quantitative and qualitative approach, data collection occurred through bibliographic survey on the subject and documentary research with Semed and Semma. We identified 72 projects aimed at environmental awareness. The main sensitization methods recorded in Semed's projects were seminars and play activities, followed by workshops and training. The most discussed topics were environmental education, waste and environment. The projects registered by Semma presented as main sensitization methods the playful activities, followed by awareness meetings and school gardens. The most discussed topics were environmental issues in general.
