This study aims to survey the soil macrofauna present in the Cerrado areas (Borda, Cerrado sensu stricto and Riparian Forest) in a conservation unit in the east of Maranhão. The scarcity of knowledge about the diversity of edaphic macrofauna in the Cerrado forest formation suggests the need for research on the main species in areas that have been suffering constant impacts such as fires and deforestation. In order to understand and estimate the possibilities of biological recovery, an analysis of the soil macrofauna was carried out to generate more knowledge about the existing biodiversity in different phytophysiognomies of the Cerrado, significantly contributing as a scientific and technological tool. The study concluded that Area 1 (roadside – edge) presented the greatest abundance of edaphic macrofauna; the most frequent, constant and dominant order was Hymenoptera for the three studied areas; the soil temperature and the precipitation had an influence on the edaphic macrofauna; Area 2 (Cerrado sensu stricto – 250 m) presented the highest diversity index; the continuation of the trap in the 3 (three) areas could increase the number of species, that is, the observed richness in the three areas differs from the expected richness.
