We evaluated cognitive aspects and neuropsychological functions in an Amazonian population exposed to mercury (Hg). Semistructured questionnaires on cognitive aspects, sociodemographics and a neuropsychological test battery were applied in the sampling in 1,089 participants divided into 6 groups. Capillary samples were collected to determine Hg concentrations. Performance on neuropsychological tests and Hg exposure evidenced correlations when considering the Palograph/organization tests in G1, Palograph/performance chart in G2, and TEDIF 2 in G5. The results are in line with the pattern of similarity of answers in the semi-structured questionnaire of cognitive functions, in which low reference to memory loss, attention, and concentration is evidenced. An integrated understanding of cognitive, sociodemographic, and neuropsychological aspects may result in a way to understand the relationship between neurotoxicity and Hg exposure in the Amazon.
