The generation of solid waste is a concern to be resolved by all segments of mineral, metallurgical and steel processing. So, sustainability for the industry is an essential issue that implies combining economic development with environmental preservation and social responsibility. Thus, industrial solid waste must be treated, respecting environmental laws, always seeking to prioritize its reuse. Within this problem, technologies have been developed, including the agglomeration of fines using the briquetting technique, as they are based on mechanical compression and, thus, can be assimilated in the production process as a complementary charge in the reduction furnaces. This research aimed to conduct a systematic review in online research databases on the potential use of fines in the form of self-reducing briquettes for these to be introduced with the raw materials in submerged arc electric furnaces (SAF) for the production of ferrosilicon (FeSi). In this perspective, briquettes must have adequate mechanical strength to maintain their integrity at the high temperatures present during the process, as the degradation of agglomerates and the consequent formation of fines can compromise the permeability of the load and the efficiency of the reactors. Therefore, evaluating the behavior of self-reducing agglomerates (reduction and strength) when subjected to high temperatures is essential to determine whether it is suitable or not for use in industrial processes.
