Agroforestry systems (SAFs) have been used in the Amazon for centuries, originated from the indigenous population and are of paramount importance to achieve a more sustainable agricultural production along with environmental protection of the space. Thus, this study aimed to compare and economically evaluate two agroforestry systems formed with Brazilian mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King), Australian cedar (Toona ciliata var. australis M. Roem) and cowpea beans (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walper) located in the municipality of Santa Bárbara do Pará. The methodology uses the cash flow technique and economic evaluation criteria: Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Ratio (RB/C), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Equilibrium Point (PE) in two SAFs called SAF-A and SAF-B, with an area of 0.34 ha each. The results estimated the cost composition (revenue and inputs) necessary for the implementation of the Agroforestry System of 0.34 hectare involving the production of Brazilian mahogany and cowpea beans, with projections of Australian cedar production, considering a horizon of 25 (twenty and five) years and inferred on the cash flow calculated for each year of SAF-A and SAF-B. From the data obtained, it is noted that the analyzed SAFs proved to be economically viable, indicating that this activity can be considered an alternative option for food production and income generation for family farmers in the region.
