Literature presents varied definitions and concepts about sustainability. The most widespread model of sustainable development is the triple bottom line. Supported by the definition that Accessibility should be the fourth pillar of Sustainability, together with the social, economic and environmental pillars, and considering the role of the Judiciary in guaranteeing the fundamental rights of citizens through access to justice, this study had the objective to investigate the conditions of physical accessibility in the accesses to the Fórum Desembargador Rodolfo Aureliano of the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE) and to verify if people with disabilities or reduced mobility, users of the forum, understand that there is a relationship between sustainability and physical accessibility and if this can interfere in the effectiveness of justice. The research is characterized as a descriptive and qualitative case study with a quantitative scope. The data collection that took place in February 2020 was carried out through the evaluation of the environments based on the existing legislation on accessibility and through interviews with people with disabilities or reduced mobility who were users of the forum. The survey included a sample of one hundred and five users, including lawyers, magistrates, civil servants, parties to proceedings and companions, who answered questions related to accessibility and sustainability.
