The Irurá microbasin belongs to the Tapajós River hydrographic basin, located in the municipality of Santarém, state of Pará. The igarapé has an extension of approximately 9.29 km from its source to its mouth on the Tapajós River. Its bed has been undergoing constant degradation, influenced by anthropic actions, mainly by the disordered use and occupation of its watershed. It is necessary and extremely important to systematically monitor water quality parameters in water bodies. The purpose of the study is to assess water quality in accordance with current legislation and through the analysis of physical-chemical parameters: hydrogen potential, biochemical oxygen demand, Total Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus, Water temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, turbidity, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and thermotolerant coliforms) and apply them to the water quality index used to assess water quality in water bodies . Through the results obtained, offer subsidies for possible changes in the characteristics of the hydrographic basin, or seek the recovery of areas that are already potentially contaminated.
