Since the 1990s, privatization has been a recurrent choice of the Brazilian government to increase the operational efficiency of state-owned companies and bring financial relief to the public accounts. The objective of this work is to carry out a bibliometric study on the scientific production on the theme of privatization of the Public Administration in Brazil by collecting data on academic productions and authors who have most contributed to the theme. These data were quantitatively analyzed using the Web of Science database. The research is of an applied and descriptive nature and proposes a quantitative approach, using the content analysis technique, aiming to search for the authors with more scientific productions and the most cited journals among those that are most relevant to the proposed theme. It was possible to identify research trends and knowledge gaps, in addition to the main contributions that deal with the privatization of the Public Administration in Brazil. The results indicate, based on the bibliographic portfolio found, that part of the works was published in 2021, three journals concentrated the publications, and the most recurrent themes are related to privatization in the health, electrical and educational sectors, among other findings.
