The need for protection and conservation of natural ecosystems has become increasingly emerging to maintain the ecological balance and quality of life of humans. The advancement of anthropic actions and impacts on natural resources already have consequences and negative impacts on nature. Therefore, there are conservation units, which aim to protect natural spaces in order to conserve biodiversity in ecosystems. However, even after approximately two decades of the creation of the National System of Conservation Units - SNUC, not all protected areas created have implemented all the established legal requirements, even considering that they aim, above all, to achieve the environmental quality of the region in question. question. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the scenario of the effectiveness of management of municipal natural parks in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, and to define requirements to be evaluated in protected areas, based on methods identified in the existing literature and documents. environmental institutions, with an emphasis on conservation units, in addition to analyzing the applicable legislation and the international standard on environmental management, ISO 14001:2015. Thus, it was possible to analyze and conclude the research providing minimum requirements applicable to the municipal nature parks necessary to achieve the effective management of these protected spaces.
