This work aimed to analyze the quality of the water consumed by the university community of the Professional Sector of Cidade Universitária Prof. José da Silveira Netto-UFPA. The methodology used was based on a quantitative-qualitative study and laboratory research, in which water samples were collected from the university's drinking fountains from August to December 2019. The variables chosen for research were: pH, turbidity, apparent color, total dissolved solids, free residual chlorine, total hardness, ammonia nitrogen, temperature and total coliforms. The research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, maximum, minimum, coefficient of variation and standard deviation). The results obtained revealed that not all samples were within the standard established by Ordinance n° 888 of 2021, of the Ministry of Health (MS), since the parameters of apparent color and free residual chlorine were out of the recommended range. In addition, the presence of contamination by microbiological agents was found in some monitored points. Therefore, interventions are needed to improve the quality of water at the university, aiming at the health safety of users.
