Challenges and opportunities of Tourism practiced in Serra Grande, Cantá (RR): a perspective from tourism agency representatives

Tourism is a sector that grows worldwide and plays a key role in the economic and social development of a locality. In Roraima, in the municipality of Cantá, Serra Grande is an important tourist destination for hiking and nature tourism. In this context, tourism agencies play an important role by providing products and services that directly influence the quality and experience experienced by them. This article aims to analyze the perception of representatives of tourist agencies about the challenges and opportunities of tourism practiced in Serra Grande - Cantá-RR. A descriptive approach of a qualitative nature was used. A semi-structured interview script was prepared, and applied to 10 business owners that operate with tourist packages for the Serra Grande region. The interviews had ten open questions, and before starting each one, the participants were informed about the content of the research and signed an informed consent form. The compilation of data, from the interviews, involved the full transcription of the recordings for the elaboration of the Corpus, which served to base the analysis of the data. The results indicate that Serra Grande has potential for tourism development, however, the interviewees highlighted the need for partnerships and commitment between the interested parties, aiming to improve the infrastructure, empower the community and promote an integrated environmental management. Thus, the information obtained in this research will be able to guide the management of the entire tourism chain in the region in the implementation of actions aimed at improving the tourism activity for all those involved.
