According to honey properties, it is hypothesized that in egg feeding with honey solution can serve as a tool to overcome early mortality and growth restrictions during embryonic and post-hatching development in free-range chickens. Given the above, this work aimed to investigate, through a literature review, the effect of bee honey on in egg nutrition. A systematic search of published peer-reviewed literature on the use of bee honey in egg nutrition was performed between September 2022 and January 123. Searches were performed on the following databases: Google Scholar, Scielo, and Embrapa. The research was divided into the following steps: selection of search terms, search strategy and eligibility screening. It was found that the literature is scarce with regard to the use of honey in egg nutrition, especially in the national literature. No study was found in the consulted literature addressing the honey in egg nutrition technique for free-range chickens. In all the studies analyzed, some type of positive effect of honey on in egg nutrition was observed, suggesting a promising field for further research. It is concluded that in egg nutrition is a viable alternative to improve the efficiency of poultry production and has a high potential for innovation and commercialization in the poultry industry. However, the practice using honey as a nutrient is still considered recent and inconclusive, stimulating potential research in the near future.
