The environmental issue is much discussed today. However, it lacks further research and feasibility with entrepreneurial and social emphasis. Identifying in this scenario the professional solid waste collector and its relevance in this discussion is fundamental for the framing of this class in the economic and productive society. The article aims to raise awareness and encourage entrepreneurial practices, aiming at the socioeconomic and inclusive responsibility of waste pickers in the national scenario. The exploratory and descriptive research model was adopted. In this article, we also adopted the bibliographic and documentary survey extracted from Capes and Google Scholar journals, as well as books and current legislation from 2013 to 2017. As a result of the analysis, the collector is an indispensable social actor in the local sustainability process. . Although this figure is still on the fringes of social devaluation, and is still exposed to environmental risks by not using adequate safety equipment in the daily handling of its duties, the study also emphasizes the possibility of expanding the theme in modern research, which lacks of greater theoretical and scientific basis.
