Abstract

The excessive use of pesticides in plantations has become a worrying factor for inspection agencies in Brazil, the country is now the largest consumer of this product, taking into account that the national economy is potentially supported by agriculture. The present study sought to identify the main pesticides used in Brazil and the harm caused to human health and the environment. Through an integrative review of several researches, the results found were addressed according to the descriptors: pesticides on vegetables; pesticide residues; chemistry of pesticides. It was found that the lack of information on the negative effects of pesticides by producers contributes to the effects caused by the indiscriminate use of these products. Another point emphasized was the ability to propagate in soils and water, which can change physical and chemical properties of these media. Considering the results found, the risks caused by pesticide residues on the environment and on human health were emphasized, indicating preventive measures to be used by inspection bodies and making it the need for further research to minimize the problems related to the indiscriminate use of pesticides, aiming to mitigate these problems, such as: guidance for rural producers, monitoring of soil and water quality and investment in methodological strategies for areas.
