Corporate governance and ethics: reflection on the company investigated after Car Wash

The present study proposes an analysis of the contemporary business conduct involved in the case of corruption with worldwide repercussions. In this sense, it is evaluated as a case study of an investigated business group, within the scope of Car Wash Operation, the ethical behavior in facing issues over time, its role in the trajectory of resistance, conflicts of strategies, contradictions and the change of speech aimed at reversing the shakes in the image and reputation, rigor and the measures adopted by corporate governance, the restructuring and the strengthening of compliance, in the search to meet the commitments assumed with the authorities and implemented by the Brazilian and international justice bodies, as well as the coping with the socioeconomic impacts that have occurred to the present day. The transformations in several aspects in the administrative conduct of the business group are evaluated, in the search for a new positioning in the market, after damage to its reputation. The research methodology used was of a qualitative nature, of an investigative character. The corpus selected for this study is the bibliographic review on the subject, examination of documents and records of press releases, made available by the organization itself on its website and/or through public releases about the company, and in the public judicial investigation processes, in official statements, from the period prior to the critical event until after the scandal was exposed. As frameworks of this study, aspects occurred with the Agency Theory and the Cost of Transaction.
