The importance of pharmaceutical care in primary care in the SUS

Pharmaceutical care consists of clarifying to the patient the need for rational use of prescribed drugs, within the context of primary care to the population, the main objective is to reduce the damage to the patient's health due to drug interactions or dose exaggerations. The objective is to analyze the importance of pharmaceutical care carried out in the context of primary care to promote the rational use of medicines, and this within the context of the SUS. The search for studies was carried out in the NCBI/PubMed (National Center for BiotechnologyInformation), SciELO (Scientific Electronic Lirary Online), Academic Google and Lilacs - Bireme (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Sciences) databases. Health). To delimit the contents, inclusion criteria were used: articles available in full, in Portuguese and English, in the period from 2013 to 2021 with free access na that were relevant to the theme. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 9 articles were selected to be analyzed in this review article, both demonstrate that the role of the pharmacist in primary care is restricted to the management of the pharmacy, which sometimes does not have enough medication for care. of patients, which leads these patients to go to other pharmacies to buy these drugs, on the other hand, this drug purchase can result in poor technical guidance, and irrational use of drugs. It is concluded that the pharmacist is essential for informing patients about the rational use of medicines in the context of primary care, and that the lack of public structure impairs professional practice, and should be compensated for in the patient's awareness process.
