Indigenous policies and territorial management for well-being in the Rio Negro (AM)

The analysis focuses on the political-cultural organization of the indigenous movement of the Rio Negro in order to consolidate an indigenous policy management for sustainability and the welfare in their territories. Semi-structured interviews and narratives, and participant observation in the indigenous assemblies were used in the data collection. The analysis of the data was achieved by coding and categorization of information, followed by a descriptive analysis, interpretive and theoretical. The results show that the proposed territorial management of the indigenous movement is characterized by dialogue between indigenous and non-indigenous knowledge, and partnerships with social agents and institutions across national borders. In the process, reaffirm the ethnic identity and the resignify what is in the region and that, in spite of not being indigenous, in virtue of colonization, became part of the life of indigenous peoples, for example, demands for education, technological assets, among others who coexist with traditional indigenous practices.
