In this study we determined the levels of these toxic metal: cadmium, chromium, copper, lead and zinc, as well as key entry points and seasonal variations in the levels of these analytes channel São Gonçalo, in the urban zone of Pelotas/RS. The sediment samples were collected in september 2011 (winter) and march 2012 (summer), along the channel studied. The sediment samples were collected after dried and sieved. The fraction < 63µm suffered acid digestion, using the mixture of regal water and perchoric acid. The extracts were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry flame. Among the analytes only cadmium was not detected. The metals chromium , copper and zinc, with the exception of lead, showed concentration levels below the rates of Quality Guide Estuarine Sediments of Canada, indicating that the analyzed region is not impacted. As for levels of lead in some points had values above the index for TEL (thereshold effect level) indicating biological risk to the aquatic ecosystem.
