The Ribeirão Cacau river basin, located in the municipality of Alvorada D’Oeste in Rondônia, is indispensable for the development of several local economic activities, such as coffee growing. To carry out an integrated management of water resources in this region is still a major challenge, mainly due to the advance of agricultural activities. In this way, the present research sought to carry out an analysis of the management of water resources in the aforementioned basin under the bias of civil society participation and access to information. To this end, it was based on bibliographic and documentary research in order to identify sustainable and applicable practices in river basins at the state level to generate a contribution to better management of the study basin. As a result, it is possible to identify growing demand for grants in the basin and environmental education actions to encourage sustainable production implemented by public and private initiatives aimed at economic production geared to sustainability. As a contribution and product of the ProfÁgua master's program, a socio-environmental awareness booklet for the production of local coffee culture and knowledge of water legislation was formulated. Otherwise, it can be inferred that there is a need to maintain investments in environmental education activities and programs, so that citizens are aware of the importance of their role in the management of water resources.
