The various uses of water make it essential for our survival, making essential its protection and guarantee of quality and quantity. Based on these affirmations, this work aims to monitor and analyze the physical, chemical and microbiological parameters of the water of the Arroio Moreira/Fragata, the main tributary of the Moreira/Fragata Basin, as well as verifying whether the results obtained are within the conditions and standards of quality established by CONAMA resolution 357/05 for class 2 freshwater. Furthermore, the Water Quality Index (IQA) of all 5 collection points was established. Point 1, which was close to the source, presented the best quality both in relation to the parameters and in the Water Quality Index, in most collections, in contrast, point 4, which is located in the urban area of Pelotas, was which presented the worst Water Quality Index. The presence of a lagoon before point 5, which is downstream from point 4, may have positively influenced its quality, as many of its parameters obtained better results than the previous point due to the time in which the water was dammed in it before continuing its course.
