The present article sought to verify the influence that the Market-Assisted Land Reform (MALR) exerts in the promoting of the development of its beneficiaries from the Capabilities Approach. Therefore, it was necessary to carry out a bibliographical research, with a qualitative analysis on the implantation of the model. Considering the information presented in the theoretical reference of this article, it was verified that this model of land reform has conditions of mitigation of privations in all five instrumental freedoms proposed by Amartya Sen, provided that it is carried out as proposed in the Brazilian legislation, fact that can be perceived or not in the implanted settlements, emphasizing that the viability of the project does not indicate the success of the same in the execution.
