Due to the disorderly consumption of society that has been causing serious environmental problems, the problem arose: Can the waste from the municipality of Porto Nacional be recycled and thus mitigate the environmental impacts? And it aims to analyze the environmental functioning of the sanitary landfill of Porto Nacional -TO. The municipality prepared its Urban Solid Waste Integrated Management Plan (PGIRSU), and since then, it has started to apply practices that would minimize the impacts caused to the environment. The company that won the bidding and responsible for managing the municipal landfill is Base Fortins. And to comply with current legislation, a new sanitary landfill was built. The research methodology was characterized as descriptive and exploratory research since it aims to describe and expand knowledge about the functioning of the Porto Nacional (TO) landfill. The sanitary landfill is of paramount importance in the final disposal of urban solid waste in the soil through confinement in layers covered with inert material to avoid damage or risks to public health and safety, minimizing environmental impacts. Final Considerations - At the end of this study, it is worth summarizing the observations made, with the purpose of correlating the investigation carried out with the proposed objectives, as well as recommending the continuity of work in the same line of research to analyze the environmental evolution and solid waste in the landfill toilet in Porto Nacional.
