Irregular disposal of solid waste in urban areas, related risks and vulnerabilities

The objective of the research was to map all irregular solid waste deposition points in the urban interstices of the city of Patos, state of Paraíba, Brazil, and the risks and vulnerabilities to which the population is exposed. It is a quantitative and qualitative research, with residue mapping and interviews with the resident population, to verify the effect of deposition, the following parameters were studied: presence of vectors, bioindicators, odors, residues and references to recurrent diseases. one or more family members. A total of five and one hundred and sixty-four 5164 garbage disposal sites were found in the urban area and five hundred and one (501) people were interviewed. It is concluded that there is a cultural practice of disposal and disposal of waste inadequately. According to the proximity of the residences, there is a greater number of references to the studied parameters, subjecting the population to constant socio-environmental risks and vulnerabilities.
