Pollution of an aquatic environment means the occurrence of any change in the physical, chemical or biological conditions of the environment, putting human health and biota elements at risk, thus giving rise to contamination. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the possible levels of contamination present in the waters of the River Dourados. In addition to also evaluating the quality of water according to physical-chemical aspects. The study period comprised the month of September 2018 to July 2019, corresponding to a total of six collections that took place at four different points and fixed along the Dourados River Sub Basin. The following physicochemical variables were determined: temperature, pH, consumed oxygen (organic matter), dissolved oxygen, total acidity, total alkalinity, chloride, hardness, turbidity, total solids. It was observed among the evaluation months that the pluviometric index was the factor that most influenced the water quality of the Dourados River. The average concentrations obtained for the physical-chemical variables did not exceed the limits recommended by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 for Class 2 waters, at all points, characterizing a good quality of the waters of the Basin. Despite a reasonable preservation of Permanent Preservation Areas on the banks of the Sub Basin, this factor has contributed to the absence of an increase in pollution levels, as seen mainly in the low values of the variables: turbidity, acidity, chloride.
