The pollution of water bodies by microplastics represents a global challenge, due to its wide distribution, ability to adsorb and disperse organic contaminants, and mainly as a form of substrate for the growth of microorganisms. This study aimed to investigate the density of heterotrophic bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa adhered to microplastics and bottom sediments, as well as to quantify the microplastics of bottom sediments, during the rainy and dry season in the Barbado stream microbasin, in Cuiabá-MT. The collections were made at four sampling points of the watershed, during the rainy season (December/2019 to February/2020) and dry season (June/2020 to August/2020). Samples composed of sediments and plastic bags inserted in the sediments were obtained to verify the density of heterotrophic bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Quantification and qualification of microplastics in the bottom sediment were performed. The results demonstrated the abundance of heterotrophic bacteria in samples of microplastics and bottom sediments. On the other hand, it was not possible to observe the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in microplastics, only in bottom sediments. Regarding the quantification of microplastics, it was observed that the Barbado stream has microplastics in all sampling points, with a predominance of the colorless fiber type. It is concluded that the Barbado stream microbasin is largely anthropized, contributing the significant number of microplastics and bacteria adsorbed to this substrate.
