Brazilian cities live with serious structural problems that have repercussions on social and environmental vulnerability. In Cáceres-MT, the Family Health Strategies (ESF) proposes to develop care practices aimed at health promotion and disease prevention actions based on the local reality. The research aimed to identify the performance of health professionals in the face of sanitary and sanitary and socio-environmental problems in Cáceres-MT. To carry out the research, a qualitative and quantitative approach was used with 20 health professionals, from the ESFs Guanabara, Rodeio, Santa Izabel, Marajoara, Vista Alegre and Caic. The steps consisted of bibliographic survey, collection, categorization and data analysis were followed. The results showed that health professionals are aware of the sanitary and socio-environmental problems existing in the communities, however the actions implemented in the communities are not so effective when it comes to the need to prevent damage to health and the environment. It is clear that the actions developed are of a punctual nature with an emphasis on aspects of diseases without a comprehensive view of the environmental problems that affect communities, thus making it impossible to develop comprehensive actions that cover the promotion of a more sustainable quality of life. The lack of professional training was mentioned by most professionals, becoming a barrier to the development of environmental education in the ESF of Cáceres.
