The organic fertilizer used in vegetable production, increases fertility, soil biodiversity and crop production, being an excellent input to be used in agriculture, contributing to the sustainability and conservation of soil and water. The objective of this research was to evaluate the development of Lactuca sativa with brood bed and chicken bed fertilization, using a quantity of 50, 100 and 150 grams / plant for 55 days, after harvesting the plants were taken to the laboratory, where root length, stem length, leaf number, stem diameter, plant diameter, root and leaf dry mass, and fresh root and leaf mass were evaluated. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with 7 treatments, being two types of organic compounds: (T1- vegetal soil, T2 - vegetable soil + 50 g / chicken bed plant, T3 - vegetal soil + 100 gr / chicken bed plant, T4 - vegetable soil + 150 gr / chicken bed plant, T5 - vegetable soil + 50 gr / corral bed plant, T6 - vegetable soil + 100 gr / chicken bed plant; T7 - vegetable soil + 150 gr / chicken bed plant). The treatments with doses of 150 gr / plant presented higher results in relation to the control, in contrast, high applications of chicken bed showed low root development, but there was the development of the leaf region. The application of litter can be a viable alternative for farmers to use in the production of vegetables.
