The description of watersheds by means of parameters and environmental analyses is extremely important for the elaboration of projects for preservation and conservation of water resources. It is with this objective that this paper presents a physiographic analysis, based on geoprocessing techniques, of the redenção river watershed, located in the urban perimeter of the city of Rio Branco-Acre. The Redenção River basin presented a size of 196.14 km ², a drainage network of 137.4 km and channels with average length of 356 meters. The drainage density found was 0.7. The compacting coefficient and the conformation index found were 1.29 and 0.27 respectively, indicating that the Redenção River basin has rivers with little capacity to suffer floods. The sinuosity found was 1.43 indicating that the main channel has intermediate sinuosity. About 67% of the basin is occupied by pasture, 13% by urban area and the vegetation accounts for about 20% of the basin area. From the information of the analyzed parameters, it was possible to affirm that the river basin of the Rio Redenção does not have risks of going through flood processes but goes through an intense process of degradation with the removal of native vegetation, especially those located in permanent preservation areas.
