This study aimed to evaluate the initial growth, spontaneous nodulation of roots, dry biomass production of seedlings of Jurema Branca (Piptadenia stipulacea (Benth.) Ducke), up to 90 days of age, under different types and uses of soils. Soil collections and studies in areas with differents aspects of classification, such: Eutrophic Red Latosols, Eutrophic Cambisols or Planosols, and indifferent use practices: agricultural practice areas (AP), Caatinga native forest (NF), degraded or degraded area (DA). The variables studied were: total height and base diameter, production shoot, root, whole plant dry biomass, spontaneous nodulation root. The soil plants AP, mean the height, base diameter, number of nodules, whole plant dry biomass of 63.8 cm; 3.9 mm; 15 nodules per plant; 17.7 g, respectively. The initial growth and dry biomass production of Jurema Branca were favored, in general, in soils AP, regardless of the type. The spontaneous nodulation of Jurema Branca presents existence, with an indication of its host specificity.
