Abstract

Urban mobility is thought of as a broad and integrated system, where non-motorized modes of transport are gaining ground. The rates of investment in cycle paths and cycle lanes have increased in both developed and developing countries. In the Amazon, there is still a timid growth of cycle lanes and cycle paths, but public pressure, control agencies and the media are helping to expand this transport network. In Macapá, despite being contained as a norm of the 2004 municipal master plan, only in recent years have there been concrete actions for the expansion of bike lanes / lanes. In this sense, this article presents a brief review on the topic of bike lanes and lanes, pointing out their importance in the urban mobility system of large cities and their effects on people's health along with the contributions to the environment. The criteria for selection of literature were:   articles published in the last 15 years (2007-2022) in national and international journals, in all 20 articles were selected in Portuguese and English. The results show that the city of Macapá is the antepenultimate capital of Brazil in number of km of cycle paths per inhabitant, it was also verified that there are about 20 km of cycle paths in the city, but that new projects need to be implemented and finalized for the interconnection of these networks to improve and facilitate displacement. It is expected that this continuous work will be carried out to discuss this topic that is so important for Brazilian cities because in addition to health gains, there are also mobility and environmental gains.
